Did you know that Shady Oaks is home to our own version of the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program? We take a well-established program, developed by the NRA, add in a no-pressure, non-competitive, clean and safe environment, ask lots of kids to come, and most importantly it is run by my favorite youth instructor, Tracy Becker Thronburg. Tracy not only coaches my kids, but all kids simply LOVE her! She is a NRA Certified Instructor and one heck of a good shot herself!
We meet the 4th Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. and go until 8pm. Kids shoot free with paid adult, and there are no additional fees for the program. Kids can even use our rental 22 pistols and rifles for free with purchase of our ammo. This month we are meeting tomorrow night, Thursday the 22nd. Bring your kiddo, and come have a great time with us! We will start with a safety class in our classroom which is mandatory for new shooters, and then quickly move to the range where we all help each other be safe, shoot well, and have FUN! There is no age limit, but we ask that you use good judgement regarding your child’s maturity and ability to handle instruction. We have not had to send anyone away yet…and I hope we never do.
Make sure you have excellent ear protection or purchase some in our pro shop. I recommend 30 db Noise Reduction Rating.
